This instrument is the creme-de-la-creme of our Carlos uke's, constructed from top tonewoods spruce and rosewood.
Ukulele's, like guitars, produce a superior sound when the face of the instrument is constructed from a wood different from that of the back and sides. This ukuleles spruce top, produces a beautiful sound rich in overtones, a sound that is limpid, focussed and full of nuance and tone colour (like having a choir of singing voices inside your instrument).
The back and sides are of rosewood. Rosewood is also one of the most acoustically active materials (which can ring like a plate of glass when properly cut). This contributes to the sustain and projection of sound, chief functions of the back and sides of a ukulele. All-in-all, this is a wonderfully construced instrument waiting to be well loved and played, cherished, shown off, and put in pride-of-place as part of someone's 'forever' collection.
